Definitely a Monster

Took Caleb to Sears today to get Halloween pictures taken. It was awful. He cried pretty much the whole time and kept clinging to me. I don't know why I bother. I typically like the pictures I take of him better anyway. Oh well, maybe we'll try one more time for Christmas pictures and then call it quits after that. (Unless miraculously Caleb turns into an angel in the next month and a half.)

Anyway, here are some photos of our monster.

Sunset

A few photos of Caleb (and Daddy) as the sun was setting. Although technically, they weren't what I was supposed to be taking pictures of. Cute nonetheless.

Meet the band

The whole band.

The boys.

Lead singer, Mirra.

Rock star drummer, Caleb.

A Collinwood duet.

Caleb's turn to solo.

Being in a band is hard work.

Budding Photographer

Caleb loves playing with my point and shoot camera. (I'm sure he'd love playing with my good camera too, except that one always gets taken away from him.) Brandon found this old film camera downstairs and gave it to Caleb to play with, so now he can be just like Mommy.

Last night, he had his camera and was "taking pictures" of me, so of course I had to grab my camera too. At one point, he even lowered his camera and said peekaboo, before raising the camera back to his eyes. It was so funny to me because that's what I do to him to try and get him to smile (or at least look at me) when I'm taking his picture.

My Two Boys

Caleb and Daddy in the Provo Canyon back on October 3rd.

Stop #4

{More pictures from Provo canyon. And no, these aren't the last of them. Almost though.}

After the last stop, my CF card was full. To a normal person, that probably should have meant we were done taking pictures. Not to mention, we were meeting some friends for dinner. But we still had a few minutes to spare, and as we drove past this last spot, I knew we had to stop.

There was nowhere to park, so by the time Brandon could finally pull over, we had to hike a ways. But it was so totally worth it. I love this red tree. The pictures here were my favorite of the whole trip.

I'm in LOVE

My dear sweet hubby recently bought me a new lens for my camera. And I am LOVING it! I'm beyond thrilled with the quality of photos it takes. Makes my job eight million times more exciting (not to mention easier too). Caleb and I have been taking all kinds of random photos. Here are a few playing peekaboo with the front door.

I also love, love, love this jacket (it helps to have such a cute boy wearing it).

Stop #3

{Continuing with our fall photos from up the Provo canyon. You know, back in the day when Caleb didn't think the fall was the worst season of the year...but I guess it was still rather warm back then too.}

Not too far up from the main road there's a nice rock with a trail behind it. I'm pretty sure that years ago Laura and I stopped here and I took her picture on this same rock.

Either way, we thought it made a pretty good spot for picture taking.

APX Party

Last Saturday, we went to the APX party. As you can see, Brandon and Doug really got into it.

The face paint did some good though. Doug got called up to play in one of the games and nearly won. Brandon took Caleb up on stage to compete for best costume. But they didn't win either.

Still, it was fun, especially since we got to have the Barbours to play with, if only for a short time.

Oh, and Caleb LOVED the face paint. (Now, if only he could love his Halloween costume too...)

My Favorite Season

I love the fall. It's my favorite season. I love the crisp, cool air. I love Halloween. I love dressing up crazy and wacky and being normal for doing it. But more than anything, I LOVE that there's orange absolutely everywhere. I love love love all the orange. Orange leaves, orange pumpkins, orange decorations everywhere.

Caleb, on the other hand, doesn't share my love for the fall. Not for dressing up -- he HATES his costume. Not for the beautiful orange everywhere -- he refuses to pose by a single pumpkin. Quite frankly, it's ruining my fall spirit.

Stop #2

{More fall photos from our trip to Provo Canyon several weeks ago}

As we headed back down the mountain, we kept our eyes peeled for any spot where we could pull over and possibly get some good colors.

We stopped at a little turnout next to a small trail. The trail led around the corner and then up into a big open area. Caleb loved it. He loved looking around at everything and being in nature. He loved it so much that he didn't want to stop and smile for the camera. Or even look at the camera really.

So I made Brandon toss Caleb up into this tree. I loved the branch coming across and thought it would be a great accent to the picture. The only problem (besides Caleb still not wanting to look at me) was that the branch was at my eye line and I couldn't get a decent shot.

Brandon took this one, since well, he's much taller than I am.

Then I decided to try a few more angling from below the branch. Caleb was much more photogenic once he could actually see me (and he was still stuck in the tree and couldn't run away to enjoy nature on his own).

Stop #1

The first place we stopped in the Provo Canyon was the place where we took pictures last year. Once we got there, we were disappointed though. Most of the leaves there had already fallen to the ground. Brandon and I both felt the colors had been better on the drive up.

Caleb, on the other hand, still really enjoyed playing with all the leaves.

Brandon enjoyed playing with the leaves too, much to Caleb's dismay.
