Philadelphia

Wednesday (7/29) we drove down to Philadelphia to see all the historical stuff there. One of the first places we went was the cemetery where Benjamin Franklin is buried.

People throw pennies on his tombstone. The boys thought this was the greatest thing, and despite the fact that we kept telling them we'd give them new pennies to throw, they scooped the pennies off the grave as fast as their little hands could move and then threw them back again.

We walked around the cemetery some more. There are several more signers of the Declaration of Independence buried there.

We went to Independence Hall and saw the room where the Declaration of Independence was signed.

They had story tellers throughout the area, telling stories of our nation's history. That was my favorite part. One of them gave Caleb this little flag. After he got it, he insisted that I have one too. I told him I didn't need one, since the guy only had so many, but the guy gave me one too. Caleb's like that these days. Always looking out for Mommy.

After lunch, we went to see the liberty bell. It started pouring rain on us, which freaked Caleb out and he insisted on holding the umbrella. I only had one umbrella with us, so I got drenched while he stayed kind of dry.

Caleb was asleep before we even left the room where the bell is. After that we decided to call it a day.

WOW!!!! I had a lot of catching up to do, since I thought that your blog was still private and I could not get in. Karen I LOVE the pictures you take, EVERYONE of them is, to me, perfect. So where are you guys for the summer. Lokks like you have been everywhere. I love the east coast there is so much to do there. Caleb is growing so much and I think he looks so much like Brandon. Are you guys doing APX? Is Brandon a manager?

I don't remember the flags in the cemetary when we went there. It looks much nicer with them :)

It looks like he had a great time with the pennies. I'm glad you've been able to see some sights. But the best sight of all is my Caleb! And I'll be glad when I get to see him again.
