Tree Shopping

We've had quite the time trying to find a Christmas tree this year. It's my favorite part of Christmas. If I had my way, the tree would be up the day after Thanksgiving. And we always buy a real tree. Christmas isn't Christmas without a real Christmas tree. That's just the way I am.

This year, however, we were in St. George for Thanksgiving and the day after. We came home Saturday, but it was dark by the time we got there and I wanted to go tree shopping in the day so that I could take pictures of Caleb.

That put off our shopping till Monday. The first tree lot we went to, Caleb freaked out. He did not want to be put down. When Brandon did put him down, Caleb tried to climb back up Brandon's legs so he could be held again.

Once we finally calmed him down enough to wander around, we tried to get him to walk through the trees so I could get a good picture (the things I make this kid do for a good picture!), but Caleb hated it. HATED it. He freaked out every time. You'd have thought someone was waiting to steal him (or worse) by the way he freaked at the thought of walking through the trees.

We left the tree lot (because they were overpriced and not at all attractive) and headed to Home Depot. They had all of maybe seven trees. And not good ones at that. I've never seen such few trees before, especially considering the many different years I've bought a tree from Home Depot.

After that we drove over to Smith's since we'd seen trees up there while we were grocery shopping. Caleb still wanted nothing to do with the trees. Finally we went around to the sidewalk side (instead of the parking lot side), and he calmed down a little. Unfortunately, despite the decent prices, the didn't sell the kinds of Christmas trees we like best.

The next place we tried was a tree lot over by Wyview that our neighbors had told us about. For some reason, Caleb loved this place.

The trees were super tall, but also super skinny. They were mountain grown, so they were pretty sparse. Maybe Caleb liked being surrounded by the more natural environment. Or maybe it was simply that they had tiny rocks that he could pick up and throw.

By the time we got to Lowe's, where we actually bought our tree, Caleb was down with the whole tree idea, but pretty done taking pictures.

Last year, I thought the tree we got was the most beautiful tree I'd ever had. This year's tree, is even better. It's seriously the best tree ever. It's huge and full and just beautiful. I love it.

we went to a lot and got one. i thought there was less trees there. I think with the economy they didn't cut so many.

What a Cute baby boy he is.
I too love the tree. But my hubby loves the tree more. We had to wait to get ours till Mon. as well and he just couldn't stand it. We buy ours from the local grocery store, have for the last 5 years. It is only $20, much cheaper than any lot around here.
I love decorating the tree! Glad Caleb finally got used to the idea of a tree.
Can't wait to see the pictures of your beautiful tree and Caleb decorating it.
Thanks for sharing.
